Dr Simon Williams, General Manager at PlaqueTec was recently interviewed by Amy Brown from BiotechTV. In the interview, Simon highlights the aims of our BIOPATTERN trial to identify distinct disease endotypes and novel therapeutic targets for coronary artery disease (CAD), stressing that patients are faced with limited treatment options, with current approaches being one-size-fits-all or aimed at reducing risk rather than directly treating the disease.

The analysis of intracoronary patient samples collected using our Liquid Biopsy System™ carried out in our lab space at the LiveLabs on Babraham Research Campus is creating a more detailed picture of the pathobiology of CAD and aims to identify new inflammatory drivers of the disease to enable the development of precision medicines.

Our recent $5 million financing round is supporting our BIOPATTERN trial and the continued development of our proprietary cardiovascular data lake, BioCarta, a growing repository of unique intracoronary proteomic and clinical data. The database is providing a novel site-of-disease strategy to inform how inflammatory risk in cardiovascular disease is stratified and targeted. This approach improves assessment of disease compared to current approaches to transform the development precision medicines and outcomes for patients.
